Seqwater would like to advise local residents that the Kilcoy water treatment plant is undergoing essential maintenance to improve its reliability and performance.
As part of this planned program of work, a state-of-the-art transportable water treatment system will be temporarily installed on the treatment plant site. This will ensure drinking water supplied from this site continues to meet Australian Drinking Water Guidelines whilst the essential maintenance is undertaken. The water treatment system is housed in a 40 ft container so a crane will be required to lift it into place.
Seqwater Maintenance Services Manager, Donna Gregory, said the essential maintenance would improve the reliability and performance of the Kilcoy water treatment plant.
“Like all machinery, it needs to be regularly serviced to be safe and efficient and this is what Seqwater has scheduled for the Kilcoy water treatment plant as part of its planned program of maintenance works,” Ms Gregory said.
“The new portable water treatment system will continue to safely treat all raw water supplies to the necessary Australian Drinking Water Guidelines whilst the Kilcoy water treatment plant is offline. The maintenance work is expected to take several months to complete however, it is subject to a number of factors including the availability of required parts and contactors.”
Ms Gregory added: “As safety is Seqwater’s number one priority, whilst the new water system is craned in and installed, there may be some local traffic disruptions around the Kilcoy water treatment plant. However, we will seek to minimise any disruption to the local community where possible.
“We would like to thank residents in advance for their patience while these improvements are being made at the Kilcoy water treatment plant.”
Seqwater own and operate more than 20 dams including Wivenhoe and Somerset, as well as 46 water treatment plants in south east Queensland. ‘Water for Life’ is our promise to the community to deliver secure and reliable water supplies both now and into the future.
